i'm so excited to report that i'm planning our very first family vacation! i have been wanting to take the girls on vacation for some time now, and i think they are finally old enough to enjoy it (and make some great memories in the process). because of various restraints on our schedules (me in summer school and jas at work) and budget (as in we don't really have a budget for such items), we have to make it a mini-vacation.
our big, mini-vacation destination? cincinnati, USA.
we'll be heading there in late june. i've been scoping out different things to do in the city and while the exact itinerary is still a bit hazy, it doesn't matter. i'm going on a family vacation! i have something special to look forward to! i'm so excited to know that my girls will be so excited! and while i want to tell them all about our plans, i won't. june 26 is sooo far away and i don't want to be asked 2.762 million times when we're leaving on vacation.
oh, i'm so excited to spend some time away from home with the 3 people dearest to me. i'm anxious to create memories with them and experience a great getaway. now, if june 26 would only hurry up!

My in laws were very frugal people, single income, etc. When their kids were somewhere around 14 and 12, they decided that it was worth the expense to take out a home equity line and go on an all out, 3 week, drive around the country vacation. They figured that the time was coming when their kids would be grown with fams of their own, and the chance to have a family vacation would be past them. So it was worth the small interest they paid on that sum. I think they were right, and so are you! Now is the time. Later, we'll all be older and more established and have more disposable income to do this stuff, but our kids will be gone. Sniff. I am excited for you!
yay! happy planning!
