cruise control

it's taken me a while to muster enough energy to write another blog. i've been feeling so drained lately, but as of yesterday, i feel i'm regaining my strength. my mind and body have successfully been placed on autopilot and i'm now cruising until next weekend.

alana is having surgery on her finger monday morning at 7am. they will remove the nail and clean out all of the scar tissue and residual cartledge that has built up under her nail and in her cuticle. i'm not sure how long she'll feel the effects of the procedure, but i'm hoping she bounces back fairly quickly. she's actually quite anxious to get it done. i think she's tired of her finger hurting...plus, i have a feeling that she's anticipating the spoiling and sympathy that will inevitably come her way.

jas will have surgery on wednesday afternoon at 4pm. after much consultation with jas's doctors in chicago and an ENT here, dr. p. has decided to attempt to patch the leak endoscopically. this means that they will go up through jas's nose to reach the location in the brain rather than do a full craniotomy. we were happy to hear that they were attempting a less invasive procedure, but we're a bit skeptical. worst case scenario, though, is that they try to do it endoscopically and then end up doing a craniotomy. no shocker to us as we had anticipated a craniotomy from the very beginning. if all goes well, jas will be released from the hospital on friday.

not even the kittens can escape 'medical week' in our household. they will go in on wednesday morning to be neutered. my sister joked that she hoped i didn't get everyone's surgery schedules mixed up. i don't think anyone would be too happy if i took the cats to get declawed, jas to get neutered, and alana to have brain surgery!

thankfully, my mom will arrive in town early next week to take care of the babies while jas is in the hospital. i don't know what i would do without her...

so, that's the skinny. like i said, i've set my life on autopilot and will concentrate all my energy and efforts on making it through to next weekend. i'll try and keep you all posted as things progress!
